In fast motion: The history of 24plus logistics network

Established in 1996 24plus has an eventful history, which contributed to it being among one of the top network companies in the German and European logistics economy.

1996

32 German top-quality forwarding agencies come together to create a general LCL net. The office is located with the founding partner, August L König GmbH in Frankfurt. A distribution centre for the night's hub-procedures is rented in Eichenzell, a town near Fulda. At the beginning some essential decisions are made which turn out to be some of the reasons for the lasting success. An EDI-clearing is developed which acts as a translation service for the data exchanged amongst the forwarders. The recipient partner receives the freight list before the arrival of the goods and thus can carry out the delivery a lot faster. The legal aspects of the corporation are settled: As many system partners as possible should join as legal associates to ensure the success of the 24plus network. The construction of qualified structures is pushed forward.

1997

The beginning of a marketing company: the sales of the system partners are strengthened through the use of business leaflets and brochures.

1998

"24plusPunkte" - a customer and staff magazine is created.  Und das Internetzeitalter beginnt: 24plus geht ins Netz. Mit „24plus Speed“ bringt 24plus ein erstes Premiumprodukt auf den Markt. The Internet era begins: 24plus goes online. With "24plus Speed" the corporation introduces their first premium product on to the market. As the central hub will no longer be able to cope with the demands in the foreseeable future, the group finds a new hub in Hauneck buying 47,500 square metres of space.

1999

24plus is one of the first LCL providers to start scanning deliveries. Thus the potential is created to offer of the system partners' customers the option to scan deliveries. At the trade fair transport logistic in 1999 24plus presents the "Speedtime" product line as the successor of "24plus Speed". For the first time, with "Speedtime 8" the customers can order a delivery before 8 am without having to order a special dispatch. Other competitors follow. The new building of the hub is completed in December.
