Federal trunk road toll in Germany

The current toll extension in Germany is not a note in the margin, but entails massive changes. With the extension of the truck toll to all trunk roads in Germany for 7.5 tonne trucks and heavier vehicles as of 1 July 2018, the German state has more than tripled the road  network  subject  to  toll  to  over  50,000  kilometres.  From  2019 onward, the federal government calculates with a yearly revenue of 7.2 billion Euro stemming from the truck toll, with the considerable costs of the toll collection itself already accounted for. This amounts to additional revenues to the tune of 2.5 billion  Euro  for  the  federal  government  as  opposed  to  the  year 2017. More than 1.5 billion Euro stem from the toll extension to the entire trunk road network as of 1 July 2018, close to 1 billion Euro from the new toll rates, which will apply as of 1 January 2019.
